The Orange-Chatham Group includes the following counties:  Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, and Orange.

The Sierra Club was founded in 1893 by the writer and naturalist John Muir. In the past century the Sierra Club has been a tireless voice for the thoughtful preservation of our natural heritage not only for our own well-being but for generations to come. The Orange-Chatham Group was originally called the Research Triangle Group and now has over 1600 members.  The Orange-Chatham Group is one of 13 local groups in the North Carolina Chapter, which represents more than 14,000 members statewide.

Our mission statement

"To explore, enjoy and protect the wild places of the earth; to practice and promote responsible use of the Earth's ecosystems and resources; to educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment; and to use all lawful means to carry out these objectives."
