Join us for one of our favorite "local" hikes in the Piedmont Triad area in scenic Hanging Rock State Park. The 4.2 mile Moore's Wall Loop Trail rises 875 feet from its start near the Hanging Rock lake and swimmer's beach to the top of Moore's Knob, the highest point in the Sauratown Mountain Range at 2,572 feet. We will cross several small streams while on the lower parts of the trail. On clear days, the views from the top of the old fire tower atop Moore's Knob are the best in the Piedmont Triad. Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions and wear appropriate closed-toe footwear such as hiking boots, hiking shoes, or sturdy tennis shoes. The trail is rated strenuous by Hanging Rock State Park so participants should be in good health and accustomed to exercising. Along with water please bring your lunch--we will take time out to eat at the top of Moore's Knob while enjoying the views.
All participants on Sierra Club outings are required to sign a standard liability waiver.
