Energy:
Energy Efficiency Sales Tax Holiday

Legislative Session: 2008

This bill calls for a tax holiday if certain energy efficient products are purchased between 12:01 AM the first Friday of August, and 11:59 PM the following Sunday.

Products included:

· Clothing and school supplies costing one hundred dollars or less per item

· School instructional materials costing three hundred dollars or less per item

· Computers costing three thousand five hundred dollars or less each

· Computer supplies costing two hundred fifty dollars or less each

· Sports of recreational equipment costing fifty dollars or less each

· Qualified energy star products:

Appliances costing less than two thousand dollars such as refrigerators

Heating and cooling products costing six thousand dollars or less (furnace)

Cooling units costing five hundred dollars or less, such as ceiling fans

Compact fluorescent light bulbs

Programmable thermostats costing two hundred dollars or less each
