The Microgrid

Nationally, the Sierra Club is working to help bring about a 21st-century smart grid powered by clean energy with the end goal of reducing electricity consumption. The Sierra Club envisions a national transmission network that supports large-scale renewable energy and local energy generation that frees homes and businesses to produce their own energy.

In North Carolina, we're working to bring energy efficiency mainstream. Recently, we held an energy conservation and demand reduction forum in Chapel Hill. Check out some of the presentations here and the video on Facebook.

Ivan Urlaub of NC Sustainable Energy Association spoke about flattening North Carolina's electricy demand.
